Bis(trichloromethyl)carbonate (abbr. ETC) is valuable and important solid crystal organic reagent. With the advantage of physicochemical properties over toxic phosgene and diphosgene, ETC is widely applied in many syntheses of organic compounds in the organic synthesis industry. With the view of environment conservancy and industry cost, it is worth synthesizing ETC. Therefore, with the principle of photochloronation this paper studies the preparation of ETC via the method of interior cooling and exterior ultraviolet illumination. Through our studying, we found the optimal condition of synthesizing ETC, and prove not only that the condition is mild, easy and convenient but also that it can offer excellent yield. Furthermore, this paper also studies the none-phosgene manufacture process for C. I. direct red 75 proving not only that the reactions process is safe simple and convenient with good yield but that ETC is promising as the ideal substitute for toxic phosgene and diphosgene in the application of organic synthesis in many fields such as in direct dyes industry.
