NC machining is the main constituent part of CAM. With the development of Numerical control technology and CAD, the traditional process of mechanical design and making has been essentially changed. NC drilling and milling machine tool is a special and economic NC machine tool which has certain machining function. AutoCAD has been widely applied in the field of mechanical design and making. Integrating the drawing data of AutoCAD, this dissertation studies and discusses the development of curve machining function of NC machine tool.First, applying the powerful abilities of drawing and data interchanging of AutoCAD, the connection of NC system and AutoCAD has been established to get the feature data of drawing. In this dissertation, the interface of Visual C++ and AutoCAD has been realized which utilizes the advantages of data processing and math calculation of VC++ and the abilities of drawing of AutoCAD.Second, according to the line interpolation of NC machine system , the method which applies 3-order B-spline curve to fit the free curve of AutoCAD has been discussed in detail. Applying B-spline curve interpolation, this paper has realized the subdivision of curve interpolation to meet the requirement of NC machining.At last , the theory and method of cutter radius compensation has been discussed based on graphics data processing .Applying the analytical method of vector, this paper solves the question of cutter radius compensation . Meanwhile, this paper discusses the generation of tool path.
