Nowadays one of the most noticeable problems for food security is the residues of veterinary drugs in animal origin foodstuffs, which causes many known and potential harm to public health.Sulfonamides are antibiotic drugs widely used for animal disease prevention and promotion of animal growth, benzimidazoles are broad-spectrum antiparastic drugs which are effectively against parasites, and trimethoprim is synergetic effect factor of antibiotics. The current standard method for the determenation of benzimidazoles residues is still aimed to the test of one specific single compound, further more for sulfonamides residues determination, the existing guide standard method cannot satisfy the requirement for the test of 8 similar compounds simultaneously .It is no standard method for the determination of trimethoprim residue. So,it is important to develop the new methods for the residues determination in order to set up the uniform and efficient standardization detection system. The major work of this study included the simultaneous detection of 8 sulfonamides drugs, 5 benzimidazoles drugs and trimethoprim respectively with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The suitable sample pretreatment methods were set up based on the combination of newly developed solid-phase extraction(SPE) technology and traditional liquid-liquid distribution, and the relative HPLC operation parameters and condition were optimized and the optimal chromatography method were established. All these methods are convenient ,accurate, and can meet the analysis requirement of veterinary drug residues, especially the index such as recovery rate, detection limit. The "Determination of sulfonamides residues in Chicken Tissues by HPLC-UV" was awarded the first prize of Guangdong CIQ Technology improvement Prize in 2002. The "Determination of benzimidazoles residues in animal origin foodstuff' has been applied for the establishment of national standard and was subordinate to "Verterinary Residues Research topic", which is one of "Food Security Key Technologies Research&Development "projects for the "15th"china national Key Technologies Research&Development programme.
