The research and development of high-powered CNC system has always been the popular concern in mechanical and electronic industry. After PC entering into CNC system area, it has largely enriched the hardware and software resources of CNC system. However, with the development and prevalence of Windows, to develop the applications for CNC system based on Windows platform will be the trend of the CNC applications developing in the future. The paper has the practical foundation of exploded screw thread processing applications based on reconstructed general CNC system of CNC lathe. It started off from theory and practice, discussed the role played by software engineering in CNC applications design, and profoundly put forward some interpolation algorithms, such as comparative integral interpolation algorithm, point-by-point compare interpolation algorithmand improved point-by-point compare linear interpolation algorithm which implemented screw thread processing. Instructed by software engineering theory , based on Windows operation system platform and VB 6.0, on that point , I studied and applied the improved point-by-point compareinterpolation algorithm. After that I designed the applications for all kinds of screw thread processing and the software module of speed-up/down control with modularization design. In terms of hardware and software equipments design, it fully benefited from PC and the former NC system resource(DMC 204 motion control board , 2 step servo motors and their corresponding drivers), combined with an OVW series encoder which constituted the hardware foundations for applications.
