Eletrodialysis is a new and developing membrane separating technology. It utilizes the ion exchange membrane's permseleclivity and the direct current field to separate the anion and cation from water solution. So the waste water is treated and the useful materials are recovered. The paper studies mainly the separation and recovery of low -concentration sodium sulfate - acetic acid-water system in the laboratory and probes into how varied factors affect the electrodialyzer' s limited electricity current density and in separating process performance. In the meantime, the paper also studies the separation technique on sodium sulfate and acetic acid.Experiments show that water solution contained 0. 5 -1 % sodium sulfate and 1 - 2% acetic acid is treated by means of electrodialyzer of 200 × 400mm assembled with tri - membrances and 19% sodium sulfate and 20% acetic acid are recovered by concentrating and separating. The content of salt and acid in the purified water is less than 0. 01%, current efficiency greater than 85 %, flow length in 3 ~ 5m and power consumption about 40 ~ 50 kwh/t.A experienced model to describe the characferistic of electrodialyzed is obtained by according to experiment data:The appropriate technical conditions are confirmed. The reasonable separation technique of sodium sulfate and acetic acid is given.
