Proceeded from the industrial application of zeolites in CO gas separation and purification technology by PSA, the novel binderless zeolite A adsorbents were prepared. The effects of synthesis and preparation conditions on the adsorption properties of the adsorbents were studied.Firstly, for various zeolite-binders and different raw material ratios, the CO adsorption capacity, CO/N2 adsorption selectivity and adsorption-desorption ability of the extruded absorbent products have been analyzed. A better zeolite-binder and composition ratio of the forming raw material has beenobtained, the adsorption capacity of n-C6H14 reached 14.79g/g, the adsorption capacity of CO reached 28.52mL/g, the adsorption selectivity of CO/N2 reached 3.77.Secondly, the adsorption ability of the modified zeoliteabsorbents using the addictive containing the inorganic(a), farina and organic amine by different heating treatment methods for CO, N2 ware investigated. It indicated that the addictives introduced into the zeolite adsorbents could improve the adsorption ability of the adsorbents for CO. The CO adsorption capacity and the CO/N2 adsorption selectivity of the zeolite adsorbents were better by calcining at 650C for 4h. The results of experiments showed the adsorption ability of the adsorbent adding farina by calcining at 600C for 4h was excellent, the CO adsorption capacity of the adsorbent reached 34.59mL/g, the CO/N2 adsorption selectivity of the adsorbent reached 4.71.The adsorption isotherms of zeolite A adsorbents to adsorb pure CO was studied experimentally. The equilibrium isotherms of CO adsorption were found to be close to the Freundlich equation for all zeolite A adsorbents, the adsorption of CO in P/P0<0.35 followed the Langmuir isotherm model, the heats of adsorption of CO on the adsorbent calculated by Vant Hoff equation and Clausius-Clapeyron equation were almost consistent. The results of the background researches provided essential bases for theindustrial application of the adsorbents.
