The dry plate pressure drop of common sieve trays , lower taper sieve trays and upper taper sieve trays are studied in this paper, As to big perforation sieve, the modified coefficient(1.15) isn't introduced necessarily. After comparing with three kinds of sieve trays under the same conditions, the results show that dry plate pressure drop of upper taper sieve trays is less 20% ~ 30% than that of common sieve trays, and discharge coefficient of upper taper sieve trays is larger than that of common sieve trays. The modified equation of dry plate pressure drop and compensation factor B' of upper taper sieve trays can be obtained by using the Hughmark-O Connell modified formula. Under the same conditions, the relation of compensation factor B' and taper angle is parabolic.Comparing with the shrunk stream diameter of different kinds of sieves, the result show that the shrunk stream diameter is smaller distinctly than perforation diameter. Under the same experiment conditions, the shrunk stream diameter of upper taper sieve trays is maximum, common sieve trays' is second, and lower taper sieve trays' is minimum. Dry plate pressure drop of the upper taper sieve trays is thelowest.After measuring the bubble diameters of common sieve trays and upper taper sieve trays, it is found that perforation structure has little effect on the gas bubble diameter and gas-liquid contacting area. If upper taper sieve trays replace common sieve trays in practice, plate pressure drop will be decreased evidently.
