In this paper, the mass transfer performance of the sieve tray were carried out in the column ofΦ100mm diameter,6.8%hole area percent, weir height of 10 mm and the column of 9 trays,Φ750mm diameter,6.4% hole area percent. The cyclohexane-heptane was used as experimental media. The controlling configuration software MCGS was used to operate the system. The influences of hole kinetic energy factor F0 on the tray efficiency and the whole efficiency were studied under the total reflux and the same hole areas. The mass transfer performances of these sieve trays in two different diameter tower were compared. The experimental results showed that in the total reflux conditions, the tray efficiency of the large tower were stable and higher about 20% than the small one. With the change of feed temperature, the plate hole kinetic energy factor on efficiency was also investigated under the partial reflux. These results will provide foundation for industrial design and scale-up.
