Many countries have spend a lot of money on new environmental energy research and solid waste treatment, especially hazardous waste treatment.Nickel/MH batteries, as a new generation of environmental batteries, have been put under the spot light because of their environmental friendship. For China, developing rare earth hydrogen storage alloys is the key research direction. But they do have some disadvantages, such as weak alkaline resistance, pulverization and degradation. These cause the decrease of their discharge capacity and cycle life. This paper put emphasis on the surface treatment of the hydrogen alloys.Hazardous waste treatment is a very important field in environmental protection. This paper also focus on the hazardous waste treatment in Chongqing. The main works and conclusions in this paper are as follows:1 For rare earth hydrogen storage alloy, the hot KOH solution etching and electroless plating are used to modify the surface conditions of the alloy. Ni-P and Co-P are electroless plated on the alloys powders' surface, and electrochemical and physical methods are used to inspect their effects on the alloy's characteristics. And it's proved that the di-treatments do improve the alloy's capacities. Then Ni-Co-P elctroless plating is used to prove that it combines the advantages of Ni-P and Co-P electroless plating, and the discharge capacity, electrochemical catalytic capacity, fast discharge capacity and cycle life are improved greatly.2 When cooperated with some environmental company, some methods of management and technology are proposed for the hazard wastes' treatment in Chongqing. The influence of the hazard waste and their necessary treatment are fully propagandized. And the hazardous waste produced in the main industries in Chongqing were invested to establish a data-base for the hazardous management and usage.
