Nanoparticles have become one of the popular subjects in materials research fields owing to their many peculiar properties in optics, acoustics, electricity, magnetics, heat, catalysis, mechanics, chemical activity, etc, and their great potential high technology applied prospects. Nanoceramics have gained much attention of materials science all over the world owing to its superior performances and wide applied prospects. The research and development of nanoceramics is becoming an important subject in the field of new materials. It is of far-reaching scientific significance and applied values.ZrO2 was prepared by chemical precipitation using ethanol as dispersion agent. Y2O3-ZrO2 was prepared by chemical coprecipitation using ethanol and water as dispersion agent.Y2O3-ZrO2 nanoceramics were sintered using nanopowders and the powders adulterated with nanopowders. The prepared samples were extensively investigated by XRD, TEM, SEM, TGA-DTA, density and hardness. Many useful experimental data were gained. The colored and antibacterial ceramics were prepared by the powders adulterated with chromophore or antibacterial TiO2.The properties of the prepared ceramics were measured. Some new results were obtained.
