Nd:YAG is the main materials of the high power solid state laser because of it’s superior physical properties, optical properties and synthesis advantage, it have widest application area in solid laser material and research value. Preperation super performance transparent ceramic material must have high quality powders, the same as high chemical purity, non-aggregation, finely disseminated nanometer powder. So, powder’s quality has direct influences on ceramic. Nd:YAG transparent ceramic powders were prepared by coprecipitation method and Sol-gel method. Using IR, XRD, TEM, SEM, et al., researched the effect of several technological conditions (surfactant, pH value, complexing agent, calcining temperture and holding time et al.) to the crystallization process, morphology and dispersion et al., The main results of study are as follows:1. Coprecipitation method was employed,2 mol·L-1 NH4HCO3 as precipitant,1% PEG6000 as dispersion, the formation temperature (1000℃) of pure YAG phase is lower, compared to solid-state reaction. The IR result showed that polyethylene glycol and metal ions have been associated, surfactant and metal ions have reached molecular level mixing, characteristic absorption peak of Al3+、 Y3+was emergenced at 500-800 cm-1, YAG phase is informed, has the same analysis result with XRD.2. Sol-gel method was employed to prepare the Nd:YAG nanopowder, researched the effect of kinds of complexing agent, calcining temperature, complexing agent concentrations, pH value and Nd-doped et al. to the powders. The result showed that, gelation was prepared by citric acid or EDTA have high sinterability, after calcining at 800 ℃pure phase Nd:YAG nanopowders can be prepared, Nd-doped can up to 18%; spherical, each grain size of the powder was about 30-50 nm and 50-70 nm, finely dissemination, high complexing agent concentration or high pH value all have impure phase, use citric acid or EDTA as complexing agent Nd-doped can up to 18%, gelation was prepared by artaric acid have low sinterability relativity, after calcining at 900℃ pure phase Nd:YAG nanopowders can be prepared, approximat spherical, fine silt, about 30-40 nm.
