Milling temperature is an important reason of wear and fracture of milling insert. The research of milling temperature is most limited in mean temperature of milling insert. In the light of this situation, systematical experiment, theoretical research and computer analysis is processed for milling insert with 3D complex groove in this thesis.The milling temperature experiment was processed by improved semi-manual thermocouple method and dynamic data collection system. The milling temperature of insert with plane face and wave insert under various cutting parameter is dynamically collected. The milling temperature is analyzed, and the different temperature field under the same cutting parameter is contrasted.The temperature field of limited plane of heat source is derived on the base of heat transfer theory, and the heating density function of milling insert is established according to experiment data and temperature-time curve derived by analysis, and the surface heating density function of wave insert is especially analyzed, which develops boundary condition for finite element analysis and the temperature at different point on the milling insert could be predicted when milling.The visualization of temperature field of milling insert with 3D complex groove is processed meanwhile, which make the temperature at different point on the milling insert could be directly looked up. The distribution regularity of milling temperature on the front face of milling insert could be understood more closely, which bases for the groove optimization in future. The friendly man-machine interface is developed to calculate milling temperature, draw temperature-time curve and visualize temperature field.Finally, the evaluation criteria of temperature field is developed through the analysis the milling mechanism and the finite element analysis and contrast of the two types of milling insert, which provides reference for reconstruction of groove and theory base for development of groove of milling insert.
