In this paper, based on the activated sludge NO.2(ASM2) and Takacs secondary settler model, with the reactor principle, A mathematical model for activated sludge system was developed by VB6.0 compiling computer programs. Experimental methods for estimating ASM2's component were studied and summarized. The characteristics of wastewater in Xi'an chanhe were determined with these modified analytical methods, finally, Intended building wastewater treatment plant of chanhe in Xi'an was designed by activated sludge simulator.In an A /O process study, the simulator was used to analysis the biomass, nitrogen , phosphorus of effluent in a 100-days period of stabilization, The simulation results showed that the simulator may imitate the performance of activated sludge treatment system during steady and dynamic state and is an effective tool in computer aided design.In the course of designing the chanhe sewage plant in Xi'an. the activated sludge mathematics model was proved simpler and more convenient than sludge load and sludge age method. The simulator was used to analysis the effects of such operating condition as influent flow, influent characteristics , design parameter. Results of study confirmed that the activated sludge simulator can be applied widely in optimal process control strategies of municipal wastewater treatment system.
