Using fire has accelerated the progress of human being. But with the development of society the damage made by fire more seriously. With the gradually limited and falling into disused of halon, water mist fire suppression system has been one of the important study items on fire technique because its characteristics on without pollution, quickly fire suppression, using little water and few damage on object protected. Effervescent atomization technique is a method of producing water mist through twin flow. Based on atomization mechanics of effervescent atomization this paper designed a single pipeline twin fluid water mist system using effervescent atomizer. The current paper tried to use advanced measuring method and simulative experiments to measure water mist field characteristics produced by effervescent atomizer and study effectiveness and its influencing factors of application in cleanly and good efficiency fire suppression systems of the new method of twin fluid atomization. These developed a new technique for new method of producing water mist.An effervescent atomizer for producing water mist designed first in this work, and an experimental platform constructed for measurement. Dual PDA, turbo flow meter and camera were used to measure and record characteristics of flux, particles distributing, and water mist field macro-characteristics. At the same time, the dissolve rates of gas medium used in the system were measured and analyses. The characteristic of fire suppression was analyses with experiment.The change of throttle aperture effect little on atomizer flux through experiment on flux characteristics. The flux was effect by the diameter of mix chamber. The distributing of particles velocity shows axis symmetry, and change of velocity was evidence at discharge orifice. The particle velocity changed calm at far from discharge orifice. The particle diameter distributing of water mist show axis symmetry too, simulated to distributing of particle velocity. The mean particle diameter was larger at radial plane far from discharge orifice than at little distance from discharge orifice, and the particle was equality. The two liquid fire was extinguished quickly by water mist, and there was a interior burning phenomenon when the wood flame extinguished quickly.The research result show that single pipeline twin fluid system was feasible used in water mist. The two pipeline system was large predigest if this system used in practicality. This system can economize mass material and superiority in economy performance.
