| α-lipoic acid is an essential coenzyme in the oxidative decarb-boxylation of α-keto carboxylic acids. In addition, because of its special structure, a -lipoic acid has been proved to be effective anti-oxidant, widely used in pharmacology.Since firstly isolated by Reed in 1951, many researchers in this field have studied its synthesis. In this paper, on the basis of an improved method, a -lipoic acid has been prepared. Besides, the spectrum characteristics of intermedieates and products have been analysised.
