As a kind of newly invented bio-environmental technology, bioremediation is much more available than the traditional technology of physical and chemical remediation as its advantage of low cost, high efficiency and no secondary pollution. As a matter of fact, it has attracted attentions from countries all over the world and has played an increasing role in the treatment of water and soil pollution. European and America countries had paid highly attention to it and have granted a lot to the relevant research and application, As a developing country, China is contributing more and more to the research and application of the bio-remediation.Corresponding techniques mainly include phyto-remediation, microbe remediation and so on. The former was focused on in this paper. The key point for phyto-remediation is to seek for one or more kinds of coastland plants which can grow and sprout adaptive to the surroundings and restrain contamination factors. At the same time, ecological functions and economic merits are additional considerations either.Firstly this paper summarily reviewed the present profile of pollution caused by heavy metal and the advances of phyto-remediation. Then it introduced a candidate plant named Suaeda heteroptera Kitag, which grows abundantly for about 78 miles along with the coast wetland oil field located in PanJin, LiaoNing province. And the mutual influence between local environment and this plant was also discussed. Secondly, using tools of both furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry and polarography, the different metal distribution in the leaf, stem, root, soil and seawater were investigated systematically. Experimental data gives a clear description of how the metals of Cu, Pb and Cd were accumulated and distributed in this plant. That could help us to understand the transference rule of Cu, Pb and Cd in plant body parts. Therefore we conclude that Suaeda heteroptera Kitag could be an ideal plantgrowing there and could improve the environment infected by some harmful heavy metal. Therefore, the eco-engineering to protect the health of Suaeda heteroptera Kitag is the great contribution to the eco-system.
