The application and development of microwave in organic synthesis in recent three decades have been reviewed in this paper. Studies on the crown ethers under microwave irradiation have carried out.Part 1: Progress in Organic Synthesis of Microwave. Microwave is used more and more frequently in organic synthesis in recent three decades. Compared with traditional methods, this new method is more convenient and easily controlled. A great many of organic reactions can be carried out in higher yields, shorter time or milder conditions under microwave irradiation. It can even set off some reactions, which can not be earried out under traditional conditions. The applications of microwave in organic synthesis in recent years have been reviewed.Part 2: The Synthesis of Crown Ethers and Relative Compounds under Microwave Irradiation2.1 Synthesis of Dibenzo-18-Crown-6 under Microwave Irradiation2.2 Synthesis of Stilbenzo Crown Ethers under Microwave Irradiation2.3 Synthesis of Benzo-9-Crown-3 under Microwave Irradiation2.4 5,6-Diphenyl-1,4-Dioxene and 5,6-Dihydro-2,3-Diphenyl-1,4-Oxathiin were sythesized by the reation of benzoin with ethylene glycol or 2-mercaptoethanol under microwave irradiation. The reaction time was shortened about 300-fold and the yields were improved when compared with classical method. A rapid synthesis and the mechanism" of the reaction have been discussed.2.5 Synthesis of Phthalein Indicators under Microwave Irradiation. The reaction time was shortened about 15-150-fold when compared with classical method.
