A tentative study on the oxidation of propane to acrylic acid (AA) and acetic acid (HAc) on Mo-V-Sb-Nb complex metal oxide (CMO) was carried out by using stable fixed bed reactor in which the feed gas is supplied successively.Studies on the preparation method of CMO show that drying method can greatly influence the property of catalyst. If drying rate is too fast, it will seriously influence the activity of catalyst. Furthermore, the action of auxiliary element Nb in the catalyst is important. When there is no Nb or the amount of Nb is little, the yield and selectivity of HAc and AA will obviously degrade. So we must confirm Nb has been fully used during the course of making catalyst.According to the experiment results, reaction temperature and resident time effect the selective oxidation of propane with the same trend. The conversion of propane keeps increasing, while the yield and selectivity of the product increase in the beginning and decrease afterward. When temperature is 380~400℃ and space velocity is 1800~2100h-1, AA and HAc can both attain higher yield. Water is an important factor to the product selectivity. The results show that CMO catalyst we prepared can't compete to which consulted in some data. The highest product yield achieved is only up to 7% which imply catalyst's poor activity. Because there are many steps during we make catalyst and multi-factors which decide the catalyst's activity exist in every step. Additionally, the limitation of our research condition affect a lot. All these problems need time to solve.
