ABSTRACT Geraniol, nerol, linalyl acetate and neryl acetate (mixture of genaryl acetate andneryl acetate) are the main synthetic perfume produced from β-pinene. In this article, creative and advanced methods were developed to separate geraniol and nerol fromthe mixture of them. Recovery methods were also developed to obtain linalyl acetateand neryl acetate from different semifinished products respectively. Geraniol, nerol, linalyl acetate and neryl acetate of high quality were gained in high yield. Theexperiment results provide the fundamental data for perfume industry. The mixture produced fromβ-pinene mainly containing geraniol and nerol, whose difference in boiling-point is only 2 C. They were separated by using the omethod of vacuum batch distillation and flash distillation with additives. Suitablereflux ratio and quantities of additives were discussed and determined. Geraniolproduct was gained with purity above 90% and yield up to 86%, and nerol productwas gained with purity above 90% and yield up to 60%. Semifinished products fromβ-pinene contain linalyl acetate, neryl acetate, whichare both heat-sensitive materials. Their purification from different semifinishedproducts was carried out respectively, using the method of vacuum batch distillationwith additives. Suitable reflux ratio and the heat-sensitive temperature were discussedand determined. Linalyl acetate product was gained with purity above 95% and yieldup to 80%, and neryl acetate product was gained with purity above 95% and yield upto 68%.
