The application of cycIodextrins(CDs) in organic synthesis has always attracted the interest of chemists. The chemical behavior of CDs in chemical reactions has mainly two aspects . Firstly ,CD and reactant initially form a CD-reactant reaction intermediate by a covalent bond . The intermediate has unique physical and chemical properties . Secondly , the hydrophobic cavity of the CD gives the reactant access to an reaction field which don't involve a covalent bond , the formation Of inclusion complexes is based on interactions of a noncovalent nature( electrostatic interaction, Van der Waals forces, π-π interaction). In this paper , various substituted aromatic nitro compounds have been found different chemical reactivity in the present of β-Cyclodextrin. The reaction without organic solvent and metal or non-metal catalysts occurred smoothly in the aqueous . The reaction is clean and highly selective, manipulation is simple, reaction time is short, and this method has the potential value for industrial applications. Furthermore, the chemical behavior of CDs in the reaction is different from general explanation , the intensive study of this reaction attaches important to develop green chemistry and supermolecular chemistry .Herein we had described β-Cyclodetrin mediated the reduction, hydrolysis of aromatic nitro compounds. Further investigation of the reaction mechanism is now in progress.
