In this paper, synthesis, characterization and catalytic behaviors and asymmetric hydration of some natural polymer-supported metal complexes were mainly investigated.Firstly, some natural bio-polymers (such as wool, chitison and gelatin) were chosen as ligands, which were coordinated with metal or metal ion of Pd, Co, Ni. The characterization of some the structures of these prepared catalysts were carried out with XPS and IR. Secondly, catalytic properties of these polymer-metal complexes on the asymmetric hydration of (E)-2-butenoic acid, 2-methylavrylic acids have been investigated. It can be seen from the experimental results that wool-metal (Pd, Co) complex catalysts show much better catalytic performance on unsaturated acids than other catalysts. In order to optimize the reaction conditions, the influence of some parameters was studied, and the best results were obtained; optical no less than 99% e.e. At the same time, the mechanism of asymmetric hydration catalyzed by wool-metal complexes was probed into. Thirdly, wool-Pd-Ni complex catalyst was prepared and used in hydrogenation of nitro-aromatics whose yield were or near 100%. Furthermore, some unsaturated polymeric-esters are researched, and also some satisfactory results were gotten.. Based on the hydration of unsaturated polymeric esters, we were inspired to give an experiment on a hydration of small molecule acids containing unsaturated bonds. And also the experiment phenomenon was interpreted systematically.2. ScientificityBy means of principle of polymeric effects and carefully analyzing the experimental data and phenomena, we gave a reasonable explanation of catalytic behavior on asymmetric hydration and did a full and exact discussion about all kinds of parameters affecting the behavior of the catalytic with the help of experiment data.3. NoveltyIt is the first time that wool-metal complex catalysts were used in the hydration of unsaturated acids and alcohols and also it is first time the mechanism of asymmetric hydration was probed into; some new issues were give to catalyst poisoning in catalytic hydrogenation of nitro-aromatics in alkaline and neutral solution.
