Alternator pole, which has many varieties and complex shapes, is the key accessory of automobile generator and has strict limit in its size and quality, so it is difficult to produce. There are many shaping methods of alternator pole and many differences between polytechnic, technical methods, producing traits and application conditions. The branch current back extrusion has many advantages. This technology spends little expenses on equipments. It has strong adaptability and can make good use of materials. But the technical process and the dies are still designed by handwork and made by conventional methods. These greatly restrict the application of the precision forging process. Based on the powerful Pro/ENGINEER software, the CAD system for alternator pole is developed so as to improve the efficiency of design and to shorten the period production development.With the IDEFO method, the functional demand, designing idea and general structure are described in this thesis. The author also detailed the development and establishment for the CAD system for alternator pole based on the Pro/ENGINEER software and programming with VC++.The thesis presents the method of parameterized programming based on the 3D model and establishes forging module. Parameterized model of alternator pole are created. Parameterized program searches the design parameter and modifies the parameter. According to parameter value, 3D model is generated. In technology of forging die, the volume of forging piece, the upset force and extrusion force are automatically computed. The specification of rod is also automatically selected. In designing of forging die, first, it is classified into standard unit and nonstandard unit, the classification of Standard unit is based on type. Then, all of the specifications are logged into database of parameter, thus 3D database is founded. According to the Pro/TOOLKIT, the interface is designed and called. At this time, the program is compiled. In the basis of parameter, we can get a special part which comes from corresponding parts, finally the designing of standard unit comes true. The designing of nonstandard depended on the powerful function of Pro/ENGNEER, then we can get the part we want to design. In the CAD system for alternator pole, the new part module is created. After we havedrawn the part, it is saved into the database of forging die. According to feather element tree, the base level and base coordinate system are created, then we can choose them when we need them at any time. Otherwise, it is another way to create model with Pro/TOOLKIT.The research is based on 3D forging die CAD system, it provide another way to search 3D forging die CAD system .it is the basis of developing forging die CAD system in Pro/ENGINEER and meaningful for research and daily life.
