LingChih, seen as a costly item for a long and better life, is a sort of rare fungus in the pool of the traditional medicine of our country. It has used by our ancestors as an effective medicine two thousand years ago. According to current clinical and pharmacological research, LingChih has many physiological activities and pharmacological actions. And medical test indicated that polysaccharide is the effective component.Traditionally LingChih is collected in the field where growth naturally or harvested what human large-scale planted. There some disadvantages in the method to obtain carpophore above mentioned. With the development of liquid submerge fermentation many large fungus has been large-scale cultured. This method has some advantages, such as large yield, using smaller space, short product periods, control easily, and so on. And evidence showed that there are no remarkable difference between the component of carpophore naturally vegetated and mycelium manual cultured.A workbench of LingChih fermentation culture to produce mycelium and polysaccharide was founded.A phenomenon, there are two kind of mycelium in the culture process., was not neglected .One is filiform, the other is pellet. The property of the two kind of mycelium is difference. Also polysaccharide is difference in shape. No related report was found about the difference of the polysaccharide.A series of experience has been done to find the optional medium and the control of the cycle of culture. The yield of polysaccharide by filiform LingChih 3.4558g/L is higher than the national paper reported 3.07g/L. The yield of mycellium by pellet LingChih 29.185g/L is close to the national paper reported 34.145g/L.Another phenomenon was noticed that the amount of culture pellet don't increase with the growth during the fermentation culture. So the quality of culture seed is very important for the fermentation.. As the yield of filiform LingChih is higher than the pellet LingChih, a strict measure should be adopted to avoid pellet forming in the production of polysaccharide.
