Study On Gluing And Slicing Technique Of Laminated Timber For Reconstituted Veneer

The research aimed at the exploring experiments of the producing technique of reconstituted veneer. It is discovered that the production ways of reconstituted veneer was not only one. Through the analysis of experiments, the influence of all technique parameters on the results and the relationship among all the technique parameters were discussed. What more it is showed that the technique parameters of reconstituted veneer were based on the interpenetration and combination of many factors. And the adhesive must suit the characteristics of its technique.According to the experiments, the surface quality of reconstituted veneer varied with the change of slicing thickness. The whole tendency was that the surface roughness (Rz, Ry) increased and the surface quality decreased with the thickness increased. When the slicing thickness is less than or equal to 0.5 mm, the reconstituted veneer quality can be improved as the square timber was sliced under wetting. When the thickness was equal to 0.2 mm, the surface roughness were decreased by 40~50%. If the thickness is equal to 0.3~0.5 mm, the surface roughness were decreased by 20~30%. However, when the slicing thickness was larger, the effect was not significant.In the manufacture of reconstituted veneer, all of the technique parameter were interplayed and restricted echo other. When one of the parameters was changed, another which suited in the certain condition, may not completely suit to the requirement of the technique. So the technique of reconstituted veneer was based on the synthetical result of many factors.The factors, including of thickness, moisture content, resin consumption veneer and press of manufacture square timber, influenced on the shear strength of glue line and the surface quality of veneer. When one of the factors was changed, others were changed also.The larch and birch can be processed to reconstituted veneer, but they were not the best species, because of brittle and hardness, lower recovery, easily check, especially that the larch has many knots.The species, which was processed to reconstituted veneer, should be softness, easily manufactured, and have less nature defect etc. example of poplar, fast-growth poplar and so on.
