ABS resin, which formed from acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrenen, is one of the best and widely used construction engineering plastic. But there are unsaturated bonds in the ABS molecular, so its weather fastness is poor and unfit to be used out of the door. Still the resin does not possess fire resistance. ACS resin and MCS resin overcome the above deficiencies. N-substitute-maleimides have become interesting monomers as a new modifier of resins in recent years, which can improve heat-resistant, have better compatibility, non-toxic, and have better thermal stability. N-substitute-maleimides can be easily copolymerized with other vinyl monomers.to improve the thermal stability of the copolymers. In this paper, Graft-type ACS resin were synthesized by suspension polymerization after swelling CPE with monomers. Graft-type MCS were extracted, and then determined the composition and graft efficiency The result shows that the monomers can graft onto CPE substrate successfully. BPO has better initiating capability than AIBN. Graft efficiency(GE) has maximum value when BPO was 0.05% of the monomer content, and GE increase with increasing RMI content. Molecular weight has the increasing trend with increasing RMI content. Tg, Ticat and degradation temperature of the copolymers increased with increasing RMI moieties in the copolymer. The mechanical properties (impact strength and tensile strength) are increased due to the feeding of RMI. The apparent viscosity and the non-newtonian parameter-flowpower n increase with the increasing content of RMI. The morphological structure of graft-type resin was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).We use nano-inorganic particales to toughen ACS resin. The results show that the incorporation of inorganic particulate fillers is an effective way for the improvement of the mechanical properties, especially when the particles distribute evenly in the resin. The incorporation of nano-inorganic particales does not affect the Theological behavior of the resin much.
