In this paper, the mechanical properties of the SBR vulcanizate filled by four kinds of CaCO3paticles were studied. The average diameter of these CaC03paticles were30nm,45nm, submicron, light calcium, seperately. The results show that the smaller particle size, the better reinforcement. When the30nm CaCO3was filled in SBR(SBR/CaCO3-1),the maxium tensile strength was10.6MPa,with the filling amount125phr. When the45nm CaCO3was filled in SBR(SBR/CaCO3-2),the maxium tensile strength was8.6MPa,with the filling amount100phr.CaCO3/SiO2nanoparticles were prepared by a sol-precipitation route. The size, morphology, chemical composition, structure and physic-chemical parameters of the composite nanoparticles were characterized and analyzed, and the mechanical properties of the SBR vulcanizate filled by the CaCO3/SiO2nanoparticles treated with different organic modifiers and filled by CaCO3/SiO2nanoparticles with different diameters were studied. As the45nm CaCO3/SiO2composite nanoparticles modified with sodium stearate were applied in SBR(SBR-CaCO3/SiO2-1), the tensile strength and tearing strength of SBR vulcanizate were much better than those of SBR/CaCO3-2. When the30nm CaCO3/SiO2nanoparticles synergistically treated with sodium stearate and Si69were applied in SBR(SBR-CaCO3/SiO2-2), the best mechanical properties could be reached, while the maximum tensile strength was14.1MPa, the tearing strength, modulu and hardness(Shore A) were increased substantially. When the30nm CaCO3/SiO nanoparticles synergistically treated with sodium stearate and Si69were applied in SBR(SBR-CaCO3/SiO2-4),the mechanical properties were poorer than those of SBR-CaCO3/SiO2-2,because the dispersion of these small size nanoparticles in rubber was worse. The CaCO3/SiO2nanoparticles synergistically treated with sodium stearate and Si69can be filled in SBR with SiO2.When the filling amount of these nanoparticles was low, the process time of SBR was cut down, and the mechanical properties of SBR decreased littlely.
