Ionic liquids, the liquid compounds composed of ions over a wide room temperature range. Since the advent of the ionic liquid l-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolum aluminum chloride, the related studies become lively day by day. Ionic liquids depended on their unique merits, such as low melting point, no detectable vapour pressure, strong ability of dissolve, good chemical stability, and so on, bring about good effects on separation, electrochemistry, chemical synthesis, et al. On the premise that the ionic liquids -I-butyl-3-methyl imidazolum hexafluorophosphoric acid ([bmim]PF6) and 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolum tetrafluoroborate acid ([bmim]BF4) have been synthesized, the aim of this work is to develop the studies of ionic liquid as replacement for the traditional volatile molecule solvents in organic synthesis and the treatment of phenol solutions. This thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, one briefly introduce about the concept, characters and syntheses of the ionic liquids are given, as well as the progress made in separation, electrochemistry, chemical synthesis, et al.In the second chapter, the employments of the ionic liquids ([bmim]PF6) and ([bmim]BF4) in the syntheses of N-aryl phthalimides, 5-alkylene barbituric acid derivatives, aryl allyl ether are presented in detail, especially a novel [bmim]PF6/H2O bi-phasic system for the Williamson reaction and Heck reaction in an ionic liquid [bmim]BF4 using ionize phosphine ligand supported palladium complex catalyst are studied. These research results showed that these reactions studied on this work not only can overcome many of the drawbacks presented in the traditional organic solvents, but also the procedures are simple, the yields are excellent, the product purifications are convenient and the ionic liquids can be reused after workup and moreover it is ecofriendly to the environment. In the third chapter, as far as my knowledge, we first applied the hydrophobic ionic liquid [bmim]PF6 in field of the extraction of phenol waste solutions, and investigated the effects resulted from extraction time, extraction ratio and pH ofsolutions. These observations combining the reported results suggested that the extraction ability of [bmim]PF6 is strong, the results are excellent, and it can eliminate the environmental pollution brought from volatile extraction solvents from its source. In the forth chapter, a concise conclusions concerned about ionic liquids are summarized and the preview is also outlooked.
