Ceramic is used widely in many fields for its special and superior performance. The sintering process of ceramic, one of the critical factors to ceramic quality, is paid great attention. Temperature field, temperature contrast field and stress field during the sintering process of ceramic is mainly discussed in this paper.Firstly, the research of thermal theory in kiln hood and the application of neural network in ceramic industry are introduced. Then, sintering methods, sintering stages, sintering rules and optimum sintering curves are presented and the reasons of the sintering flaws caused during the sintering process are analyzed. All the work above is the theory basis of the establishment of mathematic models and the simulation of sintering process.In the second part, temperature fields of different firing curves is computed by the software ANSYS. After analyzing the temperature and temperature distribution of different curves of sintering bodies of unit area, the temperature laws and effect of thermal retardation are gained. By the study of the temperature contrast and stress field of sintering bodies with complicated shape, an opinion of key dot and key line is put forward.At last, BP neural network is used in the simulation of temperature field in ceramic firing. The program is finished by the software Matlab. Data of 10 firing lines with different gradient are introduced to the network and the test results prove the practicability of using BP neural network in simulation of firing temperature field.
