Electric power is the antecedence to the development of the national economic. Our country has input the new period of a big power network and the development of the big aircrew's electrical technology. The problems of the big complex parts and the machining of the difficult-machining-material parts have put up, and there is a instanced demand of the advanced machining technology and high effected tool. In this paper the reamer which machine the link hole of the electromotor steam turbine and the chamfer cutter which machine the link hole of the magnetic pole clamp have been designed for Harbin Electric Machinery Co. Ltd.In the chamfer cutter designing part, carbide chamfer milling cutter with three kinds of teeth shape were optimized design aiming at the serious problems of the tool damage in machining the difficult-machining-material and complex parts of the big electric station equipments. In designing process, the best geometry parameters was choosed; to confirm the position of the cutter groove ,through transformational calculating the tool angles using the vector matrix method, and designed the three-dimension model using the software I-DEAS. At last, a contrast analysis experiment of the three kinds of teeth shape reamer was made,and the result indicate that the double tiers teeth chamfer milling cutter was the best. In reamer designing parts, the tool material was choosed , geometrical parameters were determined, and three kinds of blade ( straight, oblique, helix) reamers were designed. And also, the model of three kinds of blade shape was made using the I-DEAS software. Because of evaluating the integrated cutting capability of three types of blade shape reamers, we have made some contrastive analytical experiments. The contents of the experiments include: test of three direction ream cutting force, roughness measure of the machining hole surface, observe of the cutting form. At the end, the experiment data were analysed, and the logical decision was educed that the helix blade reamer was the best one of the three.
