Synthesis Of Alkyl Polyamine Polymers And Their Effects On Recording Characteristics Of Ink-Jet Printing Material

In this paper six kinds of alkyl polyamine polymers which were polyethylene glycol of molecular weight of 400, 600 and 1,000 modified with ethylenediamine or diethylenetriamine were synthesized, and the effects on ink absorption speed, definition and image quality of ink-jetprinting coating layer were studied. At the same time, the better coating formula were found. The specific work were as follow:The synthesis reaction includes two steps which were acylation and amination. In the acylation reaction the effects of the reactants ratio,reactants concentration, pyridine content, and temperature on products yield were examined, then gived a best reaction condition;in the aminationtemperature's effect on the product yield and different reactants' effect on the amine content were studied, and the structure of products were identified by IR. The effects of the film former including adhesive and hydrophilic polymer, inorganic pigment, alkyl polyamine polymer, dispersant andtheir contents on the coating absorbency and definition were studied.The results showed that there was a more better effect of filmformation and absorbency to use poly(vinyl alcohol) 1788 as an adhesive and polyvinyl pyrrolidone(K:90) as a hydrophilic polymer. The silicon dioxide with particle size 0.3-1 μm as a inorganic pigment had a better absorbency. The polyethylene glycol modified with ethylenediamine had a more better characteristic of dye immobilization, absorbency and definition than the polyethylene glycol modified with diethylenetriamine, of which the polyethylene glycol of molecular weight of 400 modifiedwith ethylenediamine had more best performance.This paper had done the fundamental work to develop more better ink-jet printing materials and got some fruits, which will has an inspiringaction to the follow researchers.
