With the development of plastics industry, especially in plastics constructional materials, conical twin-screw extruders are expanding rapidly and applied widely. As a newly arisen and high-tech technique, computer simulation being used in plastics process realm extensively has promoted the development of this realm consumedly, and it is an important milestone of the plastics processing industry .So far, the research on applying the technique of computer simulation to the extrusion process of conical twin-screw extruder is seldom found domestically and internationally. Therefore, pilot study on the simulation system of conical twin-screw extruder has practical and historic significance.Fully based on Windows, the author has developed an elementary simulation system of a conical twin-screw extrusion process with the help of the advanced software C++Builder and 3D Studio MAX through the theoretic analysis of extrusion process. This system can approximately simulate the extrusion process and calculate the output of the extruder, brimming length along the axis of screw, materiel settling time etc.The work of this article is mainly focused on the following sections:a) Detailedly expatiated temperature distributing of the solid transportation section in extrusion process of the conical twin-screw extruder, helix equation and the theory about extrusion output and solutions to them etc. This part is the core and basis of the simulation system, directly influenced the precision and the reliability of simulation results. b) Presented the drawing method of the conical twin-screw used in the simulation system, animation technology and the program design of the simulation system. Through the simulation system, we can see the changing process of materiel in extruding process intuitionisticly, setting up a user-friendly interface.c) Analyzed the result of simulation. It validates the reliability of the simulation system and is an indispensability part of the simulation system. For the first time, the simulation system dynamically shows the extrusion process of conical twin-screw extruder.
