Energetic material is an important energy material in the field of military industry. The development of its processing equipment plays an important role in the improvement of a national defense. Currently, in industrial production, the plasticizing and dehydration of double-base propellant mainly adopts groove calender, which still have a certain difference compared. In this paper, conical twin-screw extruder was confirmed to plasticize energetic material replacing groove calender, which can improve the processing safety.Firstly, the distribution of velocities, pressure, shear rate and shear stress between the two rollers during the processing of double-base propellant was studied. Through further study of the dynamic parameter changes of energetic material, the screw geometry and parameters was determined. Finally, a conical twin-screw extruder used for high solid content energetic material was designed. As the energetic material experiment can't be carried out, polyflow was adopted to simulate the plasticizing conveying process, through which, the processing security was verified. What's more, changing the parameters of processing and screw structure can provide guidance for energetic material experiment and screw structure optimization.The main conclusions are as follows:(1) The maximal value of velocity, shear rare, shear stress and pressure gradient in designed conical twin-extruder were lower than that in groove calender.(2) After the extrusion experiment of simulated materials, the design of screw was verified to be right. The dehydration of conical twin-extruder was verified.(3)With the screw rotation speed increases, the flow velocity, shear rate and the pressure fluctuations of the melt are increased. The influence of rotation speed on plasticizing effect was obvious. Therefore, the change of screw speed should be tiny.(4) If changing the screw compression ratio, changing the screw lead is more effective for changing viscous heating.
