The process of methanol co-production from synthetic ammoniaplays an important role in the production of methanol. The installationof methanol co-production which is in series with the process ofsynthetic ammonia should meet the process conditions and requiresfor both the ammonia and methanol. In order to make the equipmentsproceed at the optimal conditions, the key problems such as thestructure of tower of synthesis for methanol, the design of process andthe desulfuration should be put forward. The paper is aimed at thestudy of the problems mentioned above. Firstly, according to the reaction principle and productionpractice, the optimal operation parameters such as temperature,pressure, space speed, the ratio of raw materail are decided. Theoriginal process of methanol co-production is ameliorated. Thereaction heat is recycled by the low-pressure boiler which is settled inthe middle of the heat-exchages. The low-pressure steam asby-product is carried for the washing process of copper, thecirculating heater outside the tower can further recycle the reactionheat, the middle tank of methanol is arranged for the reclaim ofvolatilized gas. The one-dimetion even-phase methamatical model ofthe tower of synthesis for methanol is developed, Through thesimulate caclulation, the relative varieties for the yield, temperatureand resistance during the first, middle and the last period of thesynthesis reaction of methanol is achieved. As a result, the betterstructure parameters of the reactor is decided which is able to accordwith the demand of the different production states. The innerasemblies of the reactor in the form of three axial and one radialcatalytic bed with the speciality of laying down the catalystautomatically have good effect on the production. It is shown that thediffrence of temperature and reassistance is shorten and the production - 2 -intensity is strenthened for the catalysis's full reduction. In line withthe enlargement scale of 40kt/a of methanol co-production equipments,the calculation of the balance of material and heat is carried to selectthe proper heat-exchange equipment. At last, the method for the use ofenergy to the full extend is discussed. The disadvantages existed in theprocess of methanol co-production are pointed out and some advicesare given to the following research work.
