Hot dip aluminizing, which is an efficacious technology of making aluminide coating, is widely used to making coatings for protecting steels. In order to improve the property of nickel base superalloy K38 used at high temperature, tests of hot dip with Al-Si-RE and oxidation resistance had been performed. In this paper, the behaviors of oxidation of the superalloy K38 hot dipped with Al-Si-RE were investigated at 1000C .The microstructure of coatings oxidized for different times, morphologies of oxide scales, and the scales/coatings interface were observe and analyzed by SEM,XRD and OM.In the process of high temperature oxidation, because of oxidation and diffusion, microstructures of oxide scales and coatings changed as the time passing by. This paper analyzes it with various methods. The changes of cross-section metallurgical microstructure is described and analyzed. The degradation mechanism of coatings is discussed, and the property of coatings is appraised.
