Study On Extraction And Analysis Of Capsaicinoids

The technology of extraction and purification of capsaicinoids has been studied systematically. Chilli in Shaanxi is used as raw material to extract capsaicinoids by using SOS extraction and solvent extraction combined with the column chromatography. Analysis method, suitable for different capsicum products, has also been determined to fit for the extraction and purification technology.The separation and purification technology has emphasized on SOS extraction and solvent extraction together with column chromatography to extract capsaicinoids using red pepper as raw materials. During the first stage, using dried red pepper as raw materials, many factors such as lixiviating solvent, the granularity of peel in red pepper, solid-to-liquid rate, extraction time and extraction times are studied in details. According to the experimental data, the optimum parameters of SOS extraction have been decided. The same as SOS extraction, by carrying out a lot of experiments, many factors and optimum parameters of solvent extraction and column chromatography have also been determined.Meanwhile the capsaicinoids contents of different capsicum products are analyzed by the three means of visible spectro-photometric (GB10465-89), ultraviolet spectro-photometric(GB10783-1996) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). HPLC has been determined as the suitable and precise method eventually. The cost of industralisation has also been estimated here.The separated and purified capsaicinoids crystal by this technology is verified by HPLC. Its results are as follows: the percentage of capsaicinoids content is above 95%, in which the percentage of capsaicin content is above 55%, the percentage of dihydrocapsaicin content is above 20%.
