| Bamboo charcoal is a main product of bamboo pyrolysis process. The burning of bamboo charcoal and the development of the products is a new and prosperous industry. Presently, the bamboo charcoal industry has already realized preliminary industrialization. In this paper, through analyzing the situation of the bamboo resources and process of bamboo charcoal and the serious water pollution in China ,it is proposed that the new view of bamboo charcoal research in the applying technique of water treatment should be imposed,in order to raise the rate of the utilization of bamboo resource ,promote the productivity of bamboo industry, and accelerate the development of the country's bamboo industry ,.Particularly, the relation between the characteristic of adsorption and physical-chemical properties of bamboo charcoal ,and the effect of adsorpting the organic pollutants in the water were completely researched. The results are show as follows :1. Bamboo charcoal is a adsorption of multi-holed and unshaped charcoal ,and the excellent characteristics of adsorption is possessed, including Physical adsorption, Chemical adsorption. In the aqueous solution, the adsorption is mainly physical adsorption2. Bamboo charcoal's burning technology,specially the final temperature influence its property obviously. The adsorption characteristics of bamboo charcoal is affect by its specific area.3. Specific area of bamboo charcoal is related with its carbonized final temperature. Specific area of bamboo charcoal is the maximum, reaching 385 m7g at 700C.4. As a new-typed adsorption material ,bamboo charcoal can be directly applied in the further process of the household sewage and drinking water. The water quality indexes of the water sample ,such as chromaticity, turbidity, residual chlorine and so on ,are improved significantly .Especially, the indexes of organic matter are greatly improved, such as COD .5. The adsorption function of Bamboo charcoal toward Cl-, F-, NO2- i s sligh.
