With the rapid development of modern industry, air pollution is getting severer and climate is getting worse. In the meantime, the voltage level of power system is getting higher. The outer insulations of electrical equipments are operating under worse conditions than ever. Pollution fiashoyer happens every year and causes enormous losses. The security of power system is seriously threatened by pollution flashover. But the more recent practice of applying a thin room temerature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber coating on existing ceramic insulators, which is found that it can obviously improve the insulation properities of insulator, particularly under wet and polluted conditions, due to their hydrophobicity and migration of hydrophobicity, which can provide much higher pollution withstand voltages than porcelain insulators. RTV SIR (silicone rubber) coatings have become very popular, however, in order to obtain an increase of service life and better service effect, based on the feedback from the industry application, some properties of RTV coatings are still requested to be improved, esp, the abilities of preventing aging and mechanics performance. Without excellent properties above, good electrical performances of RTV also will not get utilized well and completely, so it is also finely necessary to improve integration mechanics performances and ability of preventing aging.Nano science and technology (nano-st) is a kind of rising applied technology with the rapid development of science and technology. In the more recent years, the relative research greatly becomes more and more active, which nano particles as dispersed phase are incorporated organic polymers by means of preparing nano composites in order to improve more to the general performances of macromolecule materials, due to nano particles as dispersed phase, which possess small size effect, high specific surface area and intense interface effect by valencebonds and adsorption function amid different compositions.In this paper, according to the configurable characteristics of nano SiO2 and nano layered silicate and their respective successful application in other kinds of polymers, thus they are used to the modification of RTV is determine ultimately as well. Through plentiful experiments and test researches with many advanced test means as well, i.e. FT-IR XRD SEM FT-Raman and TG-DTG etc., also further considering theoretic knowledge, dispersal situations of two kinds of nano particles in RTV silicone rubber and mechnical are studied and compared. In the meantime, diversified properties of fabricated nano composites, e.g. mechanical thermal stability HCl and NaOH resistance properties and ability of preventing corona aging etc. The test results indicate that the resulting hybrids had very excellent mentioned properties above. Moreover tracking tests are conducted, and the influences to the electrical parameters such as tan 8, pv are also found, considering that RTV silicone rubber is a kind of electrical insulation materials.
