In recent years, polymer layered silicate naoncomposite have attracted great interests from researchers because of its new and improved properties. Montmorillonite that has the typical silicate layer whose thickness is only 1nm is rich in reserves. if MMT was modified to prepare the composite material of rigid poly(vinyl chloride) and the MMT by melting the blend, it would be possible to disperse in matrix in monolayer homogeneously and the mechanical properties of the composite material will have been improved greatly.In this article, fist, Montmorillonite was modified by Bis(dioctylpyro- phosphate)ethylene titanate. The distribution of particle size of montmorillonite (MMT) modified was examined by the orthogonal experiments, and studied on the factor which can affect the effect of the modification, found that reactant temperature and reaction concentration had a primary part on it by the analysis of variance of the modified MMT experiments, which resulted in the best experimental recipe. Then the modified MMT was as additive to prepare the composite material of rigid poly(vinyl chloride) and the MMT by melting the blend. And the effect of quantity of MMT to the mechanical properties of the composite was investigated. Tensile Strength and Flexural Modulus and heat resisting property of the Composite Material of Rigid Poly(vinyl chloride) and Modified Montmorillonite was tested too. the result showed that the mechanical properties of the composite material was enhanced greatly when 2%(wt)of modified MMT was added.Then, Montmorillonite was modified by long chain quaternary ammonium salt (DOD and 1827). The properties of organic montmorillonite is investigated by XRD, FTIR and TGA and obtained the Composite Material of Rigid Poly(vinyl chloride) and organic montmorillonite by melting intercalation. the result showed the the mechanical properties of the composite material was similar as the forenamed .Based on the above investigation, we have prepared the special-modified organic montmorillonites whose distance between lamellas was further enlarged. The composite-material of PVC and the special-modified montmorillonite displayed more fine mechanical properties.
