Two aspects study were made in this paper:one was Coal pitch oxidized,theother was activated carbons prepared from different materials by chemical activationmethod using KOH,NaOH,Na2CO3 as activating agents.First.Meltable coal pitch was one of the important carbonaceous materials.Thepitch was heat-treated for infusibization of carbonaceous materials suitable forpreparation activated carbon.In the experiment,Potassium nitrate,anhydrousaluminum chloride and paratoluene sulphonic acid were chosen as catalyst.Theoptimal process and catalysis theory were researched in the experiment.Pitch was heated by air in the presence of 0.5-3wt.% three kinds catalyst for 1-9hat 300℃.The results were systematically analyzed by elemental analysis,FT-IR,components,lost weight analysis and softening point measuring,at the same time,the effect of catalyst kind , catalyst dosage and reaction time had beeninvestigated.The results showed that catalyst influenced the softening point,components and molecule structure of pitch.It demonstrated that contents ofdissolving toluene component and softening point of catalyzed-oxidized pitchincreased,H/C atom ratio reduced.With the increased of the catalyst dosage andreaction time,the catalysis enhanced. According to the experimental results,theoptimal process was:catalyst was AlCl3,dosage was 1% and reaction time was 6hours,then softening point reached 300℃.The reaction rate increased in the presence of catalyst The catalysis result wasdifferent because of the catalyst selectivity to molecule of pitch.The condenseddegree of polycyclic hydrocarbon and pitch molecule removing rate were increased.Second.In general,two methods were taken to manufacture micropore carbon:chemical activation method and physical activation method,the chemical methodusing alkali as activating agent was in common use in preparation micropore carbonwith super surface area.In this experiment,activated carbons were prepared bychemical activation method using KOH,NaOH,Na2CO3 as activating agent,the imaterial were petroleum coke and coal pitch coke.The preparation process was thatactivating agent was 4 times of material,activating temperature was 850℃ andholding 80 min.Effects of activating agents and materials on BET specific surfacearea and pore structural parameters of activated carbon were determined by N2adsorption (at 77K) by AUTOBORB-1.Results showed that activated carbon,which obtained by KOH as activatingagent and petroleum coke as material,included micropore and mesopore,microporeaperture focused on 1nm and mesopore on 4nm,activated carbon obtained by NaOHonly included micropore focused on 1nm,activated carbon obtained by Na2CO3 onlyincluded mesopore on 4nm.The adsorption and desorption isotherm of activatedcarbon obtained from KOH and Na2CO3 belonged to Ⅳ model,the activated carbonobtained from NaOH belonged toⅠmodel.The activated carbon obtained by coalpitch coke as material only included micropore.Activating agents reacted on the carbon graphite stratum , so the poreformed.The activating agent alkalinity was stronger,the reaction degree on thecarbon graphite stratum was higher.When the reaction was excess,the micropore wasexpended,then the mesopore was formed.The mesopore of activated carbon made byKOH come from two sources:(1) the acutely reaction between carbon with KOHenlarged micropore to mesopore;(2) K enter into carbon stratum and expanded thespace,micropore became mesopore.The influencing factor on the activated carbon pore structure contained not onlythe activating agent,but also the material structure and preparing process.
