To deal with ammonia nitrogen wastewater (the concentration is about 35mg/L) which is consisting the lower concentration COD(less than 20mg/L), according to the principles of simplicity and practicability, the ion exchange technics about the natural clinoptilolite to ammonia nitrogen,the ion exchange capability and the regeneration capability were studied in this paper.Through static state test, dynamic test and regenerative test, the thermodynamics property of the natural clinoptilolite was studied firstly, and was comparing with the pulverous active carbon's, the granular active carbon's and the diatomite's. The six kinds of influencing factors to the ion exchange were discussing, such as the size of the particle's diameter, pH, the cation in the tap water, the runoff, the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the entering water and the height of the filling. The regeneration capability, the influencing factors and the ion exchange technics of the natural clinoptilolite to ammonia nitrogen were researched.The experiment result indicated that the ion exchange action was happenning on some active points of the natural clinoptilolite and the exchanging action was layered; the natural clinoptilolite was obvious superiority comparing with the other ion exchanging materials; the size of the particle's diameter have an effect on the unit surface area of the clinoptilolite; the best pH point of the natural clinoptilolite to ammonia nitrogen was about 6; the cation in the tap water have some impacts upon the ion exchanging action; under the experiment condition, the runoff about 10mL/min was the best; the clinoptilolite was fit for dealing with the lower concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater, however, to the higher concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater, the ion exchanging amount of the unit clinoptilolite are higher than that in the lower concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater, when the liquor concentration was increasing, the moving speed of the ion exchanging strip was increasing too; the mixed solution of NaCl+NaOH (the weight proportion was 3:7)was the appropriate regeneration material of the natural clinoptilolite; the runoff was slower, the regeneration effect was better; the natural clinoptilolite could be repeating use, considering three times regeneration, six ion exchanging poles were connecting in series, when dealing with the wastewater which the ammonia nitrogen concentration was about 35mg/L to letting standard, the disposaling cost was about 0.235yuan/m3. The above results indicated that the natural clinoptilolite has obvious superiority when dealing with the ammonia nitrogen wastewater consisting the lower concentration COD. The disposal technics and the dynamics principle about the natural clinoptilolite to ammonia nitrogen were exploring in this paper, and advice about running control condition to this disposal technics was brought forward.
