Plastic has become one of the most basic material in our society currently. It has involved in all the fields of daily life. About 80 percent of plastic is manufactured by screw extruding. During the extruding, temperature of barrel greatly affects the productivity and the quality of finished products. In order to get the required extruding temperature, the plastics grain should be preheated, heated and melted in the barrel and the head. The reliance and precision of the temperature-control device is very important to the quality of production.Firstly, In this paper, the method of temperature control system adopted in plastics extrusion machine at present were presented. After the sense of temperature, the position which the sense of temperature was fixed, the method of heat and cool were analyzed and discussed, the hardware of temperature control system was decided.Then, a controller used PID algorithm of temperature control was presented. A method of temperature control system adopting PID algorithm and electrical relay control based on PLC which is used in plastics extrusion machine is discussed. The hardware configuration and technology of software design are also given.At last, the WinCC was used to develop human-machine interface to supervise real temperature and set- temperature. The system configuration was completed and the control software was programmed.
