The compound 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene(2,6-DIPN) is used as aprecursor of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid in the manufacture ofhigh performance polyester resins such as polyethylene naphthalatepo1ymer(PEN),because 2,6-DIPN is easily oxidized to 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid. There have been many expected PEN's applicationsbecause of its good physical properties in strength, thermal resistanceand gas barrier property. However,PEN have heretofore been tooexpensive to expand its market cleanly because of few effectiveseparation processes for the 2,6-DIPN commercialization. It's a practicalsignificance that the preparation and separation of 2,6-DIPN areresearched. In this article the material for studying separation is prepared bynaphthalene and propylene on catalysis, and the reaction process isoptimized. The different separation methods of 2,6-DIPN are studiedin detail. Results show that the distillate of 2,6-DIPN and 2,7-DIPNmixture is gathered by vacuum distillation separation, then 2,6-DIPN北京化工大学硕士学位论文with purity 99.42% is gained after crystallization and solventrecrystallization.
