For many years, Computer Aided Design (CAD) has been used in rubber machinery. Focus has generally been placed on theoretical analysis and computation. However, due to the complicacy in rubber processing (where many chemical reactions take place), the variation in property of additional materials and the influence of many other factors, a number of theoretical problems has not been solved. Therefore, the results based on simplified model are difficult to be applied to practical solutions and production.Due to the rapid developments in computer hardware and software, the CAD technology is increasingly becoming more attractive in various applications including its utility in rubber industry. Presently, the development of screw design of rubber extruder using AutoCAD is mainly based on the structural program. It therefore cann't meet diverse requirements of complex systems such as application among differentprocesses, platforms, distributed application and reuse. To solve these problems, it is very important to apply CAD designing tools and redevelop those. Design Pattern may be used to subtly reuse codes, design system from the top of structure and realize complete compatibility among codes on the basis of binary system.In this thesis, majority of the research work has been focused on parameterised design using CAD based on an extensive theoretical analysis of rubber extruder screw. Using Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF) as management framework, Component Object Models (COM) as a unit and performing doing code's re-using and distributed application, efficient rubber screw design system has been successfully worked out. The characteristics and the functions of COM are studied thoroughly and the whole framework of COM application software of rubber extruder screw design has been built using Visual C++ 6.0. A dynamical linked library has also been created for parameterised design.
