The study on the surface is the important part of the application of the nano-CaCO3, which relate directly to the nano-CaCO3's performance and prospect in industry. In this paper, the surface modification of nano-CaCO3 was discussed and the application of the surface modified nano-CaCO3 was studied. The results show that after modified, the dispersity of CaCO3 in the organic solvent was improved and the surface of CaCO3 was changed from hydrophilicity to lipophilicity. The chemical absorption was existed between the surface modifier and nano-CaCO3. In the same way, the chemical reaction was existed between the modified nano-CaCO3 and the matrix of polymer, so the compatibility between powder and polymer was improved and the property of the composite material was improved too. Based on the data, this paper showed that if selected suitable surface modifier and convenient process engineering, nano-CaCO3 could add into ABS resin and improve the mechanics property and thermal distorsion temperature of ABS. But the blank nano-CaCO3 couldn't act like surface modified nano-CaCO3.
