Pyrite cinder is one kind of Industrial waste from calcining in the sulfuric acid production. Our country has large-volume production of sulfuric acid in the word, one tons sulfuric acid will bring 0.8 to 0.9 tons pyrite acid, thus producing out about seven million tons sulfuric acid every year. So it has brought the enormous environmental problem pollution. However, pyrite cinder, a resource that can be reused, contains 20 percent to 60 percent iron and can be recovered again.Recently, with the increase by a large margin of the demand for iron-based products on the market, it has impelled a lot of enterprises to explore the new way and produce the products with market more competitiveness, so they must look for more low-priced raw material sources in order to substitute traditional raw materials; At the same time, it Encourages them studying more advanced craft and obtaining the high-quality superior products. For this reason pyrite cinder has entered scientific workers' research field in succession and gain some achievements. The dynamics of comprehensive utilization of the pyrite cinder is strengthened day by day. Though development rapidly to prepare ferric oxide red with pyrite cinder, the composition has limited its greater development to a certain extent- because it includes more impurity richly. But the impurity can't be got rid of easily at the stage of preparation. The grade of the products is not high and it also influences the range of application of the products. So to develop the top-grade iron oxide red products have becomed the focus studied key of production. This research adopts the advanced craft and makes the high iron oxide red from pyrite cinder; it has opened up the new way of comprehensively utilizing pyrite cinder.The article takes pyrite cinder from the Jinshandian vitriol factory of Wuhan Steel and Mining Industry Corporation as raw material. It has prepared top-grade ferric oxide red products and its purity may reach 99.31 percent, adopting the wet craft of removing impurity and the craft of dry oxidation. The craft is advanced and reliable and benefit practical application; The method and the reagent of removing impurity has strong points, the result of removing impurity is very good. The wholeexperiment process is divided into six parts: reduction roasting, vitriol lixiviation, removing impurity in water, formatting FeCO3, Precipitation and desiccation, calcination ,and the optimum condition is defined in every part . Furthermore, advanced detection equipments and analysis technique are used to study the main reaction behaviors in the preparation process to achieve advancement and rationality of preparation .XRD discovered the product crystal is Fe2O3. SEM and JEM prove that it has produced some Changes in structure in the course of calcinations before and after, the granule is global, and the average size is 0.1 m .Compared with the traditional method to prepare iron oxide red, this method utilizes recovered resource, it has reduced the consumption of the iron sheet greatly, the grade of the products is high in quality, and has improved the added value of ferric oxide red. This method has considerable economic benefits and social benefit.
