Alky] polyglucosides (APG) belong to the group of nonionic surfactants. APG has high surface activity and high biological degradability. The advantages of APG are: svnergistic effects with other surfactants giving the possibility of reduction of surfactants; low skin-irritation; no hazardous. Since 1980s, the study on production has been paid attention to all the time. Many methods are available for synthesizing APG, but APG is commonly produced by trans-glycosidation or direct glycosidation technique. Direct glycosidation is better than trans-glycosidation in production costs and quality of products. Many catalysts have been used in synthesis of APG, but the activity of traditional catalysts is not very good (<90%). In addition, catalysts corrupt the equipments and can't retrieve. For overcoming their shortcomings, the method of direct glycosidation is employed to synthesize APG in this study. The preparation of H3PWj2O40/SiO2 is impregnation method and the results show that strong acidic resin can increase the activity. Several factor can influent the transformation ratio of glucose. Optimum conditions for the synthesis of APG by the method of direct glycosidation are obtained. The supported catalysts with different loading contents immobilized on SiO2 have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, IR and SEM. These results can provide a referential model for supported acid catalysts.
