Because of the particular geometry structure of the conical twin-screw extruder, it has been widely used in the plastic industry, especially in the processing of the UPVC, which is one of the most important plastic materials. But there were little paper issued in this area. So it is significant to investigate its basic theory.First we made some visual improvement on the basis of our present machine. We made experiments of extruding under different conditions, observed the movement of the material in the extruder with the transparent barrel, and interpreted it in macroscopic views. Because in the solid transportation part of the conical twin-screw extruder materials processed are in the forms of incompact grain. So our first study is to confirm its physical character. We found and analyzed the dates and their changing tendency of its specific heat, density and the coefficient of heat vransfer, etc.Secondly, we study the temperature field of solid transportation with the help of the ANSYS software. We built the finite-element model, and made programs to get the models to obtain the temperature field of the solid transportation part of the conic twin-screw extruder. Experiments are used to confirm the results of simulation. The results are satisfactory.
