The weft insertion mechanism is a key part of the rapier loom in weave industry , the weft insert speed,efficiency and quality of the textile are effected by its structure form,its precision of movement and its smooth of movement accuracy . At present, a conjugate cam weft insertion mechanism is widely used in domestic textile machine, however, the theory of the weft insertion mechanism need to be researched.According to the demand of textile machine factory, a new design scheme which aims at the problems in old style rapier loom transmission mechanism is put forward. Based on knowing the rapier loom working theory, and the mechanism was analyzed kinematically,dynamically.Aimed at realizing the modified trapezoidal acceleration motion rule of rapier, a new weft-insertion mechanism in rapier loom is analyzed and designed kinematically, which is a combination of cam, linkage and gear train. The kinematic dimensions of the mechanism and the conjugate cam profiles are obtained through numerical calculation.The optimal design theory is introduced briefly. Based on?the kinematic analysis of a new weft-insertion mechanism in rapier loom, the optimization model of geometrical cams is presented. Optimization model takes the dimension of cam as the optimal parameter, and is subject to compression angle and curve radius and other limitations, so good result is got. The weft insertion mechanism is analyzed dynamically, the dynamic model of mechanism is presented, and some dynamical rules is given.
