Research On Low Pressure Casting Die Manufacturing Of Impeller Of High-Speed Fan

This paper mainly performs the design and temperature field simulation and research on Al low pressure casting die of cooling system of high-speed train. The low pressure casting die manufacturing of impeller of high-speed fan which has complex curved face and is needed to high precision is so difficult that traditional machining is hard to work and even more hard to reach specification. This problem can be solved successfully by applying Numerical Control (NC) machining and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM).The main tasks in this paper are as follows: Firstly based on dimensions of impeller of high-speed fan the three-dimensional model can be created, based on the model the shape size of the low pressure casting die can be fixed on, and the locked mould force can be calculated, then the low pressure casting equipment should be chosen. Secondly we can design the mould by using Pro/E and get the parts of the moving mould and the static mould. Thirdly temperature field simulation of the static mould should be finished when the cavity is filled, by the software of ANSYS the most temperature variation area of the static mould can be got, and on this base improving design should be carried through or some measures can be taken, so we prolong service lifeof the die. Fourthly NC machining of the part, which does not belongs to the cavity of the blades of the static mould, should be made by Pro/E, and its cutter motion path can be simulated. And fifthly EDM of the cavity of the blades of the static mould should be done, the process and the equipment should be chosen, and the tool electrode can be designed and made.The methods and steps of designing and machining low pressure casting die are put forward and some problems of design and manufacturing of low pressure casting die can be solved. It sets up a given basis of successful manufacturing of low pressure casting dies of impeller of high-speed fan and other casts like it.
