Carriage bending parts, which belong to bending die field, are the important products of railway vehicle companies. With the speedup of products update, higher and higher request for its design quality and efficiency has been put forward and traditional handwork design and manufacture cannot meet present requests. Applying CAD/CAM to die design and manufacture to elevate die design and manufacture level and shorten producing period is the inevitable developing trend of die industry.On SolidWorks 2003, the bending die CAD system of carriage parts for assembly by means of component technology is designed and developed. The design of the die system of the carriage bending parts is realized: from technical calculating and spring-back rebuilding of die parts to structure design and assembling of the die system, etc; the customized creating and optimized combining of 2D engineering drawings on SolidWorks.The key technologies for developing this system are discussed in detail in chapter 2: part modeling based on feature modeling; assembly assembling automatically based on Bottom-up and Top-down, etc. A good database management function is necessary for a successful CAD system, so the design and implementation of EDBMS for the system is investigated in detail in chapter 4, particularly the standard part library technology and access technology for picture files in database based on BLOB. DBMS used in the system include SQL Server2000 and MS Access2000.The design and implementation of the whole system are discussed and investigated in chapter 3. On the basis of analysis of the bending die practical design process, the system function structure based on IDEFO method is established, and then the design of the bending die CAD system of carriage parts for assembly is finally built. The design of the customized creating and optimized combining of 2D engineering drawings are respectively investigated in detail in chapter 5 and chapter 6.This system is collaboratively developed by CAD&CG Lab of DUT and Changchun Railway Vehicle Co.,Ltd. At present the system has been evaluated by the user, the feedback result shows that the system meets the expectant demands of the user, and the system can elevate die design efficiency obviously.
